In just over a week, The Blind Side will open in theaters all over the world. The movie is based on the true life experience of Michael Oher, a homeless African-American youngster from a broken home, taken in by the Touhys, a well-to-do white family who help him fulfill his potential. Living in his new environment, Michael faces a completely different set of challenges to overcome. However, he is not the only one who makes some important self discoveries, as the Touhy's lives are greatly impacted too. As a football player and student, Oher works hard and, with the help of his coaches and adopted family, becomes an All-American offensive left tackle. This year, Michael was signed by the Baltimore Ravens in the first round of the 2009 NFL Draft. I can't wait to see this movie!
Michael's story is just another powerful example of the difference adoption makes, both in the life of the child...and the family. We continue to pray for our daughter. We know she will be as much a blessing to us as we will be to her. Truth be known...she already is. Thanks for all your prayers!
